LE DUFF Group: 50 years of history, innovation, and excellence
The Group's development
Brioche Dorée's Bold Challenge
The history of the LE DUFF Group began in 1976 with the creation of Brioche Dorée by Louis Le Duff. From the outset, the brand stood out for its use of quality ingredients and the promise of a French-style culinary experience, whether for breakfast, a quick lunch, or a gourmet break.
The 1980s and 90s were a period of rapid expansion. Brioche Dorée bakeries spread across France, winning the hearts of consumers with their fresh products and warm atmosphere. Initially present in city centers, the brand quickly expanded to shopping malls, airports, train stations, and motorway service areas, reflecting the mobility of its clientele.

The Birth of Bridor
Following the success of Brioche Dorée, Louis Le Duff, committed to controlling quality across his brands, decided to manufacture his own products. 1988 thus saw the arrival of a new subsidiary, Bridor (a contraction of Brioche Dorée), specializing in the production of bakery and pastry products for hotel, restaurant, and retail professionals.
This new milestone marked the birth of the LE DUFF Group's industrial division and once again demonstrated Louis Le Duff’s pioneering role in driving market development. Diversification continued in 1995 with the acquisition of the Pizza Del Arte chain (Italian restaurants), followed in 1999 by the creation of Cité Gourmande, offering frozen recipes based on potatoes and cooked vegetables. In 2021, the acquisition of the Frial Group, a European leader in premium frozen products, strengthened the LE DUFF Group's position in the ready-meal segment and complemented Cité Gourmande’s existing range.

The International Call
Louis Le Duff’s ambition knows no borders. In 1989, Brioche Dorée opened its first international establishment in Brussels, Belgium. During the 1990s, he set out to conquer the West. Canada, and naturally the United States, became his new expansion grounds. The acquisition of the American fast-food chain La Madeleine in 2003 accelerated the Group's presence in the U.S. The Group also expanded in Europe with the acquisition of the Kamps bakery chain in Germany in 1997.
2014 marked the opening of the 500th Brioche Dorée restaurant in the world, expanding from East to West.
Bridor also continues its international development strategy by consolidating its presence in key markets. In 2022, the brand strengthened its footprint in North America with the acquisition of Lecoq Cuisine, a leader in the French-style pastry segment, and extended its influence in Southern Europe through Panidor, a specialist in frozen bakery and pastry products in Portugal. In 2024, the acquisition of the Dutch manufacturer Pandriks increased production capacity and consolidated the LE DUFF Group's roots in Northern Europe. In 2025, Laurent Bakery, an essential benchmark in bakery and pastry, joined Bridor, significantly boosting its presence in Australia and New Zealand.
